Riverbank Swim Team

The Riverbank Barracudas had a great 2011 summer season.

Tryouts for the team will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 10:00AM at the pool. Those already on the team do not need to tryout again. All swimmers must be able to swim the distance of the pool with the free style stroke (25 yards) and any other skills required by the team coach.

Practice will begin June 4th and the seson will run through August 3rd.

A PARENT MEETING will be held on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 6:00pm at the Pool.

City of Riverbank Swim Lessons

The Aquatic program runs May through August of each year.

Swim lessons are offered in two week sessions that run Monday-Thursday. Each session is taught for 40 minutes.

Instructors will test on the first day of class to confirm each child is placed in the correct level.

 

Fees: $45 for residents, $50 non-residents

 

Class Ratio: Tiny Tots: 1 instructor per 4 students

                     Beginner: 1 instructor per 6 students

                     Advanced: 1 instructor per 8 students

 

Session Dates:

Session I: May 21 - June 1 (Includes Friday, June 1st)

Session II:  June 4 - June 14

Session III: June 18 - June 28

Session IV: July 9 - July 19

Session V: July 23 - August 2

 

Morning Lessons:

Tiny Tot: 11:15am and 12Noon

Beginner: 11:15am and 12Noon

Parent Baby: 12Noon

 

Evening Lessons:

Parent Baby: 5:30pm

Tiny Tot: 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 5:30pm, 6:15pm 

Beginner: 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 5:30pm, 6:15pm

Advanced Beginner: 6:15pm

 

Class Descriptions

 

Parent/Baby: This course is designed for the 6month to 36 month old. A parent or both parents learn how to assist their child in water adjustment with the guidance of an instructor. Swim diapers are required, and a parent is required to be in the water.

 

Tiny Tot: This course is designed for pre-school, ages 3 – 5 year olds, and for the child who is ready to learn to swim. This is an introductory course that will help your child feel comfortable in the water as well as introduce them to basic water safety and swimming skills. Parents remain out of the water for this course, but can offer support and encouragement. Class ratio 1:4

 

Beginner (Levels 1-3): Introduction to water skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills, Stroke Development. The beginner classes are designed to progress from 1 to 3. A student placed in a level 2 class must perform the skills required for level 1. This requirement continues from level to level. Some classes may be combined if the classes are not full. Class ratio 1:6

 

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate (Levels 4-6): Stroke Improvement and stroke refinement. These courses are for the more advanced swimmer. Skills learned in level 3 will be practiced to build student confidence. Stroke refinement includes additional guided practice. Swimming distances are required to build endurance. These courses require additional pool space, so it is offered only at limited times. Class ratio 1:8.

 

Private Lessons: Private lessons can be arranged through the Recreation Department, and depending on instructor availability.

Recreation Swim
The Riverbank Community pool will open for the public on June 4, 2012!!
 
Hours will be as follows:
 
Opens on June 4, 2012
Monday - Thursday: 1-3:30pm
Saturdays: 12-3:30pm
CLOSED FRIDAYS AND SUNDAYS 
 
Cost: $1.75 under 18 years
         $2.25 18 years and older
 
Swim Pass: $60 for an individual pass, $100 for a family pass (good for up to 4 people of the same family).
 
Swim pass does not guarantee admission. Pool is closed when guard capacity is reached or water chemistry needs adjustment.
 
Reminder: All swimmers must wear swim suits (No street clothes, shorts or cutoffs).
Lifeguard in Training
This is a City of Riverbank course that will be taught by our Water Safety Instructors. Volunteer hours will be available to assist at the pool once junior guards are trained. This is a great way to learn the job of a lifeguard and to gain experience!

Saturday Night Splash is back! It starts on July 7th!

aQua Zumba
Come join us for a new and exciting water exercise experience! It promotes muscle endurance, increases muscle strength, reduces stress, and you burn more calories!
 
You MUST wear water shoes, or tennis shoes! No BARE FEET!
Also, bring a towel, water and wear a swim suit.
 
We are having a FREE Introductory class!
